In honor of the Independence Day, a cappella group Home Free has released a cover of the Lee Greenwood classic “God Bless the USA.” The video, features the five-piece country band singing in front of Mount Rushmore.
“We feel very blessed to be able to make music for a living, and we know it’s only because we live in a country made great by the sacrifices of others,” Home Free’s Tim Foust told Taste of Country. “This is our tribute to the brave men and women of the Armed Forces, past and presently serving.”
The individual members’ voices blend seamlessly together in the patriotic cover. Watching the group perform is equally as captivating as listening to them; it’s incredible how they are able to use their voices to mimic instruments and create such a full-bodied sound.
The video ends with a great quote from Abraham Lincoln: “Honor to the soldier and sailor everywhere, who bravely bears his country’s cause. Honor, also, to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field and serves, as best he can, the same cause.”
The all-vocal group, who won season four of NBC’s The Sing Off, says the song is important to them because it was one of the first songs that they originally arranged for themselves years ago.
