A piece of Texas Hill Country history is no more. Turner Hall in Fredericksburg was engulfed in flames Sunday night and completely destroyed.
The Fredericksburg Fire Department is currently investigating the cause of the fire. Firefighters battled the blaze from 10:45 PM on Sunday until 5 AM on Monday morning. They were able to contain the fire, but the structure did not endure.
The historic dance hall was built in 1871 and functioned mostly as a community center for Fredericksburg. The venue hosted weddings, parties and regional bands. Turner Hall was one of the last remaining dance halls in Central Texas.
