There are few types of music that give me as much joy as 90s country. The decade was filled with lots of great music that was relatable, enjoyable and still rooted (if sometimes somewhat distantly) to traditional country. Rising artist William Michael Morgan has channeled that era with his own brand of modern yet old school country music.
Following up his hit single “I Met a Girl,” Morgan is releasing his infectious new single, “Missing.” It’s about dealing with our sometimes overwhelming daily life and enjoying a little time away from it all.
At a time when country music doesn’t really know what it is or where it’s going, Morgan’s music is a breath of fresh air. And it brings a bit of hope that this type of country, still purveyed by the greats like Strait and Jackson, is being preserved by a new generation.
Morgan’s debut album, Vinyl, is out now. He’ll be heading out on tour with Lee Brice and Justin Moore on their American Made Tour next year. You can find a full list of his upcoming tour dates via his official website.
