Is the viral hit “Pissed off Rednecks” the “most controversial song of the year?” You might think so after you take a listen.
Late last month, Arkansas native Jamie Jones grabbed his guitar while his wife was at the gym and wrote and recorded “Pissed off Rednecks.” On Feb. 26, Jones posted an iPhone recording of the song to Facebook, and it has since become a viral sensation with more than 1.5 million views.
In the song, Jones expresses his discontent for the government, gun control, Obamacare, immigration, and a host of other issues, claiming to represent rednecks everywhere.
Here’s just one of the song’s strongly-worded lyrics.
“No I won’t press one for English / I just as soon hang up the phone / If you wanna serve in a Muslim church go and take your a– back home.”
According to Taste of Country, promotional materials for the song bill tout it as “the most controversial song of the year.” It’s only February, but I’d say “Pissed off Rednecks” is a heavyweight contender for that title.
