Blake Shelton supplies a sugary-sweet new track for the upcoming The Angry Birds Movie soundtrack.
Although the country star has been trying to go for a more mature and slightly sexualized image these days with the release of “Came Here to Forget,” his new track “Friends” takes a completely different route. The plucky story-song acts as a musical companion to the family-oritented new film, set to theaters on May 20, which features Shelton as the voice of character Earl the pig.
Musically, it’s about what you’d expect from a mainstream country song that was made to be featured in a kid’s movie. It has a bouncy beat, which easily connects with the toddler-aged crowd, and sometimes overly-sweet lyrics that promote the idea of friendship and working together. While the production makes the song sound more like a parody of a country song than anything else, it fits with the bright and energetic theming of the movie.
All in all, the track isn’t going to win any awards, but it would make a great addition to you’re toddlers playtime playlist. Click below to hear Blake Shelton’s new track “Friends” for The Angry Birds Movie.
