Watch Pop Star Harry Styles' Surprise Cover of 'Girl Crush' in Nashville

Harry Styles and his adoring fans just about blew the windows out of the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville last night. And one of the biggest crowd reactions came from an unexpected cover of Little Big Town's "Girl Crush."

Styles first rose to superstardom as a member of the boy band One Direction. Earlier this year, he released a solo record and headed out on a national tour.

"I have to say, when we booked this tour, this was kind of the reason," Styles told the crowd. "This room. And it is beautiful, and you look fabulous, so thank you."

Watch his fans nearly blow the roof off the hallowed venue upon hearing the first line of "Girl Crush."

Harry Styles called the Grammy-winning tune "one of my favorite songs, recently, that's come out of this place." And despite Styles' history in a boy band, and his new indie pop/rock leaning solo work, his fans clearly agreed. You almost can't even hear him when he sings in his lower register thanks to the crowd singing along.

Though a lot of the country crowd may only think of Styles as a pop performer, he's clearly got the chops to handle whatever he wants to sing. His rendition of the tune seemed to take it from a forlorn unrequited love anthem to more of a swaggery ode to his largely female fan base.

"Girl Crush" launched Little Big Town into the stratosphere. The single off their 2014 album Pain Killer is on its way to selling three million copies.

Interestingly enough, Liz Rose was one of three co-writers on the song. Rose famously helped mentor Taylor Swift in her early songwriting career. And of course, Swift famously dated Harry Styles for a little while. But hey, that's the music industry for you.
