A clip from the highly-anticipated Hank Williams biopic I Saw the Light has finally hit the Web. In it, you can watch actor Tom Hiddleston come to life as Hank Williams as he sings “Move It On Over” at Castle Recording studios in Nashville.
It looks like I Saw the Light will take a similar approach to the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line, in which the actors actually sing the songs. Hiddleston clearly has some singing chops. Hardcore Hank fans may not be impressed, but I’d say Hiddleston’s transformation is pretty damn good.
Back in June, the actor told the Daily Mail that he was “singing and playing every day” to prepare for the role. He also got some tips from country singer Rodney Crowell, who furnished Hiddleston with a J-45 Gibson acoustic guitar and helped the actor with vocal and performance techniques.
The newly released clip also shows actress Elizabeth Olson, who plays Audrey Williams, Hank’s wife. She’s a pistol.
