How to Grow a Beard Like Willie Robertson

Follow these steps to grow a legit beard.

Have you always wanted to grow a full man’s beard? Of course you have. But it’s not about throwing out your razors and letting your hair grow however it wants. Believe it or not, there are some steps that require a little maintenance on your part. If done right, you’ll grow a beard like one of the greats.

1. Shave your last shave

You’ll want to start off with all your facial hair at the same length. Shave everything first, and then you can toss out those razors. You’ll get stubble quickly, as you probably know.

If you work from home, it will be easier. However, if you need to go into the office, consider starting on a Thursday so you don’t look totally homeless for a week. If you’re taking some vacation days, that’s a great time as well. Ideally, the most culturally acceptable time to look unkempt is No-Shave November. But a good beard can happen all year around.

2. Push through the discomfort

The first couple weeks may be a little uncomfortable. Men who are new to the beard growing game often complain about dry skin or itchiness. If this gets really bad, look at a moisturizer specifically with facial stubble in mind. It will relieve the itch and you’ll be one step closer to a full beard.

3. Commitment

No matter what, don’t shave. It might sound like the most obvious thing, but it’s not. People lose faith when they don’t see results. Choose a style beard you want and stick with it. Different beards require different trimming. If you mess up your lines it’s okay. Your hair will fill in again. The Willie Robertson look is the easiest, but not everyone’s hair will grow that full.

4. Trim occasionally

Invest in a decent hair clipper. A trimmer will keep your hair in good condition. Trimming the split ends of your beard will ultimately make it grow faster as well. Plus, by keeping it the same length it will grow evenly.

5. Keep up with the maintenance

Trimming is not the only maintenance procedure available. There are certain things you can do to ensure your beard grows as full and thick as it can. Women have a billion products to maintain healthy hair. If you want a glorious beard, consider using some special products designed for men. There are oils to keep it in good condition, and they don’t smell like a flower garden. Plus, if you have really coarse hair these products will help your beard feel a little softer.
