The Grand Ole Opry movie is now playing in select theaters across the U.S. American Saturday Night: Live from the Grand Ole Opry gives viewers an inside look at the legendary venue and features performances by Blake Shelton, The Band Perry, Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker and Brett Eldredge. Movie goers will also see exclusive backstage footage.
Bud Mayo, of DigiNext and Carmike, previews the project’s immersive experience by saying, “The Opry production was the best I have seen and heard in 40 years in this business. Add the personal interactions with the artists between their sets and moviegoers are in for a thoroughly immersive experience from the moment they do their virtual walk into the hallowed halls of the Opry. This kind of groundbreaking event helps to fulfill the promise of digital cinema and its importance to Carmike and the exhibition industry at large.”
American Saturday Night first opened in select Carmike movie theaters in December, but expanded to other theaters across the country on Feb 12.
The made-for-cinema concert film will give you a backstage pass to the goings on at the Grand Ole Opry. In an interview with Country Weekly, Opry announcer Bill Cody says people can expect, “… backstage conversations that capture that college-dorm atmosphere. A variety of artists are always getting together backstage and telling stories.”
