George Strait Announces Rare Country Music Festival Appearance

Country superstar George Strait may have retired from touring, but he's ready to hit the road again in 2018.

This morning (Oct. 24), he was announced as the headliner for 2018's Bayou Country Superfest at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. The festival, scheduled for May 27, will also feature Chris Stapleton, Little Big Town, Kacey Musgraves and Midland.

The announcement may signal Strait's intentions to hit the country music festival circuit next summer. He's already announced a handful of solo shows, but it's been years since Strait has made any festival appearances. With many more festival lineups scheduled to be announced in the coming weeks, don't be surprised to see his name pop up a few more times.

If you want to see this rare appearance for yourself, tickets go on sale Nov. 2. A small amount of tickets are still available for his 2018 shows in Austin, Texas, Tulsa, Okla. and Las Vegas. He's also scheduled the play the sold out, star-studded Country Rising benefit show in downtown Nashville next month. You can find his full list of upcoming dates and ticketing info here.
