The King of Country is heading back to Texas. George Strait has just announced a massive headlining concert in Austin next summer.
In a video posted to Instagram, Strait revealed the show, which will be part of the Frank Erwin Center’s 40th anniversary celebration.
The Erwin Center is a large event venue owned by the University of Texas at Austin, where the Longhorn basketball team plays and where graduations are held. It’s also where people go to rock out to all kinds of concerts when it’s not in use by the University.
George Strait is a native Texan, born in Poteet, Texas. He attended Texas State University (formerly Southwest Texas State University) in San Marcos, about 50 miles outside of Austin.
Last week, Strait also announced he’ll be participating in a benefit concert in San Antonio for Hurricane Harvey victims.
Sadly, George didn’t release many details about the concert, including its exact date. Additional info will be revealed in the weeks to come. Stay tuned to Wide Open Country for more updates.
