Sept. 12’s Hand in Hand telethon was a tremendous success, drawing in over $44 million for hurricane relief efforts. One of the standout performances of the star-studded evening came from country superstars George Strait and Chris Stapleton.

The two stars joined forces for a rendition of Strait’s trademark hit “All My Ex’s (Live In Texas).” Watch their impressive duet below.

Of course, country music fans wouldn’t be surprised to hear George Strait tackle a song he first recorded in 1986. However, it never ceases to amaze me just how naturally Chris Stapleton can croon his way into any tune’s pocket. His gritty, soulful voice is a natural fit for the traditional country tune. Together, they take on “All My Ex’s” with all of the gusto that Strait brought to his western swing classic 31 years ago.

“All My Ex’s Live in Texas” hit No. 1 after its initial release in 1987. The cheeky song about a Tennessee man’s jilted ex-lovers first appeared on George Strait’s twice-platinum Ocean Front Property record.
