5 Creative Ways to Use the Pantone Color of the Year in Your Home

The 2019 Pantone color of the year is living coral, and that bright color can be a bit daunting in terms of how to incorporate it into your current home decor. Each year the Pantone Color Institute (led by Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman) introduces a new color that inspires designers to change up their designs and branch out from trends. Time to switch out some of those accessories in Ultra Violet, Pantone's color from 2018.

So what does that mean for 2019? The living coral color doesn't have to be a throw pillow with coral reefs on it (but it definitely can be if that's your thing). According to the Pantone website, the color is "An animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge." Pantone even sells a color guide for homes and interiors.

We've gathered up some examples from social media to give you five creative ways to incorporate living coral into your home.

1. Throw Pillows

This is one of the easiest ways to jump on board with new color trends without spending a lot of money. New pillows are especially perfect for people like me who have the innate need to continually change their decor for absolutely no reason.

2. Front Door

The Pantone living coral color would be the perfect way to brighten up your front door. The cheerful color will give the front of your house a lively presence and it isn't too overwhelming for your curb appeal. Plus, you can always re-paint it down the road when you want to change things up.

3. Wall Color

If you have neutral pieces and want a pop of color with your wall, this would be a fun way to incorporate the color. It helps to brighten up your space and add an exciting element without being too bright.

4. Bedding

Updating your bedding is another relatively cost-effective way to transform your space completely. Get creative by adding different throw pillows in orange and pink shades to complete this dreamy look.

5. Rugs

If you're looking for a substantial investment that will last you for years to come, that would be a high-quality vintage rug. These never go out of style and finding one like this that features pops of living coral would brighten up any living space.
