We’ve seen Fred Armisen impersonate a feminist bookstore lady and an uptight biker on his hit show “Portlandia.” He also showed off his improv chops on SNL for years. But what you didn’t know is the popular comedian is so much more than just an imitator of the good old Pacific Northwest.
On a recent visit to “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” Armisen revealed he’s been working on his U.S. accents, especially the southern lilts.
He delivers a knockout version of the Louisiana, Arkansas and Tennessee accents to Fallon.
To be fair, Armisen was born in Hattiesburg, Miss., so maybe it was always in his blood.
Although, he moved to NYC as a baby so I guess we’ll have to give him some credit for picking up on all the subtleties of these regions.
The actor claims he can do every southern accent from any region and any city. The video below only teases us with three. Hopefully we’ll get to hear more in the near future.
