Christmas is almost here, and what better way to stay in the spirit than a little Randy Travis? The singer may not be performing as much anymore after suffering a stroke in 2013, but this performance will last forever.
Filmed in the Carlsbad Caverns in the Chihuahuan Desert next to the Rock of Ages formation, Travis’ version of “Silent Night” is beautiful. This stunning version features a beautiful choir chorus accompanying Travis as he sings of Jesus Christ’s birth.
Its been three years since Travis suffered a debilitating stroke from acquired viral cardiomyopathy. The type of stroke that Travis suffered usually makes many unable to walk, much less perform. Sadly, the stroke forced Travis to step away from performing regularly, but country music always finds a way.
But Travis has since managed to beat those odds, performing “Amazing Grace” at his Country Music Hall of Fame induction. Travis also made a surprise appearance at Charlie Daniels’ 2016 Volunteer Jam, stealing the night. Not only is Travis a country music legend, but he’s also an inspiration more now than ever.
So even though Travis may no longer be performing as he once did, his “Silent Night” is the perfect way to ring in Christmas. Whether you’re with loved ones or simply listening while you work, Travis will surely bring much needed cheer.
