Country-darling-turned-pop-diva Taylor Swift has been hit with a suit from a country music disk jockey.
David Mueller, better known as “Jackson” to country radio fans in Colorado, is fighting back after he was accused of groping the singer in 2013.
The alleged incident occurred when Mueller and his girlfriend attended a meet-and-greet with Swift backstage. The two posed for a picture with Swift, who later told her bodyguards Mueller had lifted her “skirt with his hands and grabbed her bottom.”
Swift’s security team removed Mueller and his girlfriend from the concert and Mueller was later fired from his job because of the incident.
The following is stated in the lawsuit from Mueller, according to CNN.
“The contention that Mr. Mueller lifted up Ms. Swift’s skirt and grabbed her bottom, while standing with his girlfriend, in front of Ms. Swift’s photographer and Ms. Swift’s highly trained security personnel, during a company sponsored, VIP, backstage meet-and-greet, is nonsense, particularly given that Ms. Swift’s skirt is in place and is not being lifted by Mr. Mueller’s hand in the photograph.”
While Swift’s team alleges the photo shows proof the incident occurred, Mueller’s team denies the fact.
“[In] the photograph, Ms. Swift is smiling and hugging Ms. Melcher,” the suit states. “Although Mr. Mueller’s hand is behind Ms. Swift and therefore not visible, it is clear that her skirt is in place and is not being lifted by Mr. Mueller’s hand. Similarly, Ms. Swift’s hand is behind Mr. Mueller and therefore not visible.”
So far, the photo has not been made public. It seems like the incident is a “he said, she said” case that will be decided by arguments from witnesses. Even if Mueller is in the right, it’ll be a tough fight against the powerful legal team supporting Swift.
