Fans of Hank Williams Jr. are using social media to get him inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
An online campaign titled “Get Hank in the Hall,” recently began on Facebook, since gathering over 6,000 supporters in just a few days. An online petition has also quickly reached over 600 signatures with a goal of 1,000 signatures in total.
Both pages give an extensive list of Williams’ career accomplishments, and there are many. Over the past 50 years, Bocephus has won seven CMA Awards and ACM Awards, and sold over 70 million albums worldwide. Williams is one of only eight other country artists to have a single on the Billboard country charts in six different decades. The other seven artists who have accomplished this achievement have all been previously inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Although no response has yet come from the Country Music Association, it is likely only a matter of time before he earns his own bronze plaque. Until then, the 66-year-old is busy promoting his new single with Eric Church, “Are You Ready for the Country”. The track will be featured on his upcoming record, It’s About Time, which will hit stores Jan. 15.
