Drivers who commute along Interstate 20 in southwest Dallas know the Texas symbol that has rested in the highway median for at least a decade. The site has long been a popular spot for motorists to stop and snap a photo.
Well, not anymore. NBCDFW reports the Texas Department of Transportation removed the sign on Monday over safety concerns. The problem for motorists, according to TXDOT, is getting back on the highway without causing a dangerous situation for oncoming drivers.
This video shows crews removing the sign on Monday.
The sign is going to the city of Grand Prairie, where it will likely be stored in a warehouse.
