Hands down, William Clark Green is one of the best songwriters in the game today. The Texan saw his star rise dramatically over the past few years, particularly with his third and fourth albums, Rose Queen and Ringling Road.
Green lands firmly in the country spectrum, but the 30-year-old singer can craft songs with pop sensibilities and alt-rock angst with the best of ’em. He puts his talents firmly on display on the upcoming Live At Gruene Hall.
We’ve got the exclusive premiere of one of the most heartfelt performances from the record. “Still Think About You” is a piano-driven ballad that caps off Green’s Ringling Road. The song is raw, heartfelt and brutally honest. The raucous Gruene Hall crowd listens on in revered silence.
Green says his two favorite albums growing up were Jerry Jeff Walker Live At Gruene Hall and Jack Ingram Live At Gruene Hall: Happy Happy. This album, eight years into his career, is a dream come true.
Recorded over two shows in January 2016, Live At Gruene Hall spans Green’s entire career, with a heavy emphasis on his two standout records. Since the moment carried a lot of weight for Green, serious care went into making the live album.
William Clark Green brought in personnel from Ringling Road to handle the live album. He also brought in Dani Flowers and Jack Ingram for excellent contributions. Pick up your copy of the two-disc set when it drops Friday, Sept. 23.
