Fans of the “King of Rock and Roll” will soon be able to purchase a brand new stamp celebrating his incredible life and career.
The U.S. Postal Service announced that Elvis Presley has been chosen as the newest face of its special edition postage stamp. The stamp will feature a black and white portrait of Presley originally taken by photographer William Speer in 1955. The stamps will come in a specially designed package that mimics a record sleeve and features a border on the back detailing his impressive career accomplishments.
Presley is the latest artist to be featured on the Music Icons stamp series that began production in 2013. Fellow legendary musicians Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix and Ray Charles have also had their own special edition stamps released to the public.
The stamp is a result of a special partnership between USPS and Sony Music’s RCA/Legacy Recordings to help promote Elvis Forever, a new album featuring 18 of Presley’s biggest hits throughout his career. A special dedication ceremony will be held at the historic Presley mansion, Graceland, in Memphis, Tenn. the day of the stamp’s release.
Fans can pre-order the stamps at the USPS website or purchase them at select post office locations beginning August 12.
