Dolly Parton is following up the record-breaking success of her television movie Coat of Many Colors with a brand new sequel.
Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love will air during the 2016 holiday season, with an official airdate to be announced by NBC in the coming months. According to a press release, the semi-biographical film follows the Parton family as they deal with a harsh blizzard and financial difficulties. During these struggles, Dolly embraces singing and begins her path to superstardom.
The choice to create a sequel to Coat of Many Colors, which was one of the most watched television movies in nearly a decade, was an easy one for Parton.
“I was so overwhelmed and touched by how many people watched Coat of Many Colors and their reaction to it,” Parton explained in a statement. “The song ‘Coat of Many Colors,’ of course, has always been my favorite and has touched so many people through the years, especially me. It is a true story from a very special time in my childhood. I am so happy to share this story with the viewers and to say there is so much more to tell because mine truly has been a life of many colors. I hope the viewers will fall in love all over again.”
