Country legend Dolly Parton is following up her massively successful 2015 television movie Coat of Many Colors with another Christmas-themed film later this year.
Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love is a semi-biographical retelling of Parton’s childhood. This new installment fittingly picks up during the holiday season and shows the family’s struggle to get by.
In the trailer below, you’ll see a glimpse of the up and downs the Parton family face this time around. “What kind of man can’t give his family a Christmas?” Parton’s father, played by Ricky Schroder, asks sadly.
Parton broke ratings records with her first original television movie, Coat of Many Colors, with NBC last year. The decision to produce another family-friendly film was an easy one for the country star.
“I was so overwhelmed and touched by how many people watched Coat of Many Colors and their reaction to it,” Parton explained in a statement. “The song ‘Coat of Many Colors,’ of course, has always been my favorite and has touched so many people through the years, especially me. It is a true story from a very special time in my childhood. I am so happy to share this story with the viewers and to say there is so much more to tell because mine truly has been a life of many colors. I hope the viewers will fall in love all over again.”
Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love premieres Nov. 30 on NBC.
