Dolly Parton set the record straight on rumors of a devastating stomach cancer diagnosis.
She posted a public statement on her official website to refute recent claims of a “secret medical crisis” made by the National Enquirer. Although she was not diagnosed with cancer, Parton revealed that she recently received treatment for kidney stones.
“It is true that I had kidney stones,” Parton shared through a note on her website. “I had them removed three weeks ago and I am doing just fine!”
Although she was briefly sidelined by kidney issues, Parton has since stayed busy with various side-projects, including her highly-publicized series of made-for-TV movies set to air next year.
“I am back to work and last week I was at Dollywood filming parts for my new movie Coat of Many Colors, which premieres Dec. 10 on NBC. With the 30th Anniversary of Dollywood, I did a full week of activities promoting my new DreamMore Resort’s opening,” she wrote.
In true Parton style, the country legend expressed her appreciation for all the well-wishes sent to her by fans. “There is absolutely no truth at all that I have stomach cancer. I love and appreciate everyone’s concern.”
