Dierks Bentley explores the complications of a love triangle in his new video for “I’ll Be The Moon.”
The impressive duet, featuring vocals from rising artist Maren Morris, gives fans the first real sneak peak of the gritty and emotional sound found on his upcoming album, Black. According to Bentley, the record, due out May 27, keeps a clear focus on love at both its best and worst.
“It never works out all nice and neat,” Bentley said of love, lust and relationships to Rolling Stone Country. “It’s a little more mysterious than that.”
His latest single, “I’ll Be The Moon,” is the perfect lyrical example of what happens when love gets complicated. In the clip, a woman is shown secretly visiting another man behind her boyfriend’s back. By the end, it’s clear that her secret lover is done with staying in the shadows.
Although fans are left wondering how things will shake out, Bentley says the storyline will be continued in three more videos that will be shared in the coming weeks. Part two, which will be a video for his new track “What the Hell Did I Say,” will be released on April 15.
