Forget changing leaves and infinity scarves.
Pumpkin Spice Lattes ring in the official beginning of chilly weather and fleece-lined leggings. Ever since Starbucks unveiled the PSL back in 2003, people have been trying to figure out how to incorporate its flavor into everything (including tortilla chips, vodka and even fettucini).
Somehow all these experimental foods don’t actually incorporate the silky smooth beverage into their recipes. And they definitely don’t deep-fry that PSL to perfection.
Forget fried Mars bars and Twinkies. What if you could take the PSL right out of your mug and make it into bite-sized nuggets of heaven? And without turning on the oven? That lofty dream is no longer out of reach with this 10-minute recipe from Bustle, perfect for guests or a night binge-watching Netflix.
- 1 loaf of pound cake
- 1 venti Pumpkin Spice Latte
- 1 teaspoon of pumpkin spice
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- whipped cream
Cut the loaf cake into 1-inch cubes. You can also get fancy and cut 1-inch-thick slabs of pound cake into cute, cookie-cutter shapes.
Soak the cubes in the fresh PSL in a bowl for a few seconds. Stick the soaked cake cubes into a deep frier or in a pan with at least 1 inch of oil. Fry for 5 minutes until golden brown.
Sprinkle the hot, fried PSL cubes with the mixture of pumpkin spice, cinnamon and sugar.
Finish off this masterpiece with a hefty dollop of whipped cream and you’re ready to start off fall with a bang.
