Darius Rucker surprised an American hero with a brand new home on the “Today Show.”
Singer and known philanthropist Darius Rucker gave a veteran the surprise of his life, live on television.
Rucker made an appearance on the morning show on his birthday (May 19), but he ended up being the one giving out some very meaningful gifts. Specialist Daniel Branham was presented with tickets to Rucker’s concert, along with the keys to a brand new, mortgage-free home in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.
Ret. Lt. General Leroy Sisco from the Military Warriors Support Foundation, who helped to organize the big event, presented the home to Branham alongside Today Show co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Kathy Lee Gifford.
Branham was obviously shocked by the gift and was all smiles as he gave the singer a huge hug. “Daniel’s an American hero,” Rucker said. “The things he did when he was deployed, he’s just an amazing guy.”
Rucker plans on giving away 11 homes to veterans during his Southern Style tour through this summer through a partnership with the Military Warriors Support Foundation. You can see Darius Rucker out on his Summer Style tour through the rest of the summer.
