Craig Wayne Boyd is Finally Releasing a New Album

When Craig Wayne Boyd won The Voice three years ago, he took a different path than most winners. Instead of releasing a full-length studio effort right away, he cited artistic differences with his record label and left. Now, though, Boyd is finally releasing his first full-length post-Voice album. The new record, Top Shelf, will drop on Oct. 27 via Copperline Music Group.

Over the years following his Voice win, Boyd has only released a song here and a song there up until now. All of the fans that he's picked up through the show who've kept with him, though, are going to be in for a real treat with his upcoming LP.

Boyd was a Voice contestant who was known for his faith, family and traditional country chops. It's what American television audiences voted for, and it's what they're going to get on Top Shelf. Boyd is finally able to make the music he identifies with people who understand what he's going for. The end result is a bonafide country album with themes of resounding faith, love, heartbreak and celebrating life.

Boyd has gone on record to credit his wife with being the driving inspiration behind the album. First off, he's said that the album has "a bit of the whiskey" that fans have gotten to know him for. Yet, he's also revealed that his wife Taylor has brought sophistication into his life that previously wasn't there. In other words, "...it's a little bit like whiskey and wine, but rather than calling it Whiskey and Wine, I felt like, 'You know what, it's not the cheap stuff; it's the top shelf.'"

Craig and Taylor have much to celebrate beyond the release of Top Shelf these days, too! The couple has recently revealed that they're expecting a new baby boy.
