Couple Uses Fallen Trees to Transform Their Home’s Concrete Floor

Bet you’ve never seen this crafty home improvement idea before. This clever couple didn’t let their cold concrete floors get them down, instead they found a beautiful (and earth-friendly) way to warm up the space using dead trees.

To create their new floor, they legally gathered wood from fallen juniper trees in their state park and debarked the logs. The logs were then run through a chop saw (set at 1″ to create even slices) and then glued onto their bare concrete floor.

Once the wooden slices were tightly assembled, several coats of polyurethane were added and the spaces between the discs were grouted.
