Dustin and Nichole Hargrove from nearby Columbia, Tenn. are now facing felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor assault charges. According to police, the couple was in town for a wedding reception at the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sept. 26, hours before they initiated an altercation with Brainard and his friend Deborah DeLoach in downtown Nashville.
The Hargroves allegedly hit DeLoach with their car as she and Brainard were on a crosswalk on Demonbreun Street. After emerging from their car, Dustin Hargrove attacked and choked Brainard until he was unconscious, while his wife pulled DeLoach’s hair and forced her to the ground.
Brainard, who’s recovering after undergoing reconstructive surgery to his face, released this statement to The Tennessean following the Hargroves’ arrest:
“I speak for myself and my friend Deborah DeLoach when I say we are overwhelmed with gratitude for the work done by Metro Nashville Police Department’s Detective Anthony Chandler, his team and to Nashville’s media whose coverage led to Crime Stoppers tips which helped solve this case. We are humbled by the outpouring of care and support from not only friends and family, but what feels like the entire city. A huge thanks to everyone involved. I’ll be sleeping more soundly knowing this part of the process is over.”
