Hillary Scott – April 1 (30-years-old)
The leading lady of Lady Antebellum turns the big thirty in April! Her bandmate, Charles Kelley, has been garnering a lot of attention for his recent solo album, but Hillary has a lot going on for her as well. She’s been working on a gospel album with her parents and younger sister. The album is being produced by the famous Ricky Skaggs and is expected to come out some time in 2016.
Kip Moore – April 1 (36)
Kip Moore was recently added to the CMT Country Music Tour lineup and will be performing alongside Eric Church and Zac Brown Band. He also released a visually stunning, must-watch music video for his single “Running For You.”
Emmylou Harris – April 2 (69)
Emmylou Harris is a legend. Cool news: Emmylou, Dolly Parton and Linda Ronstadt announced that they’ll be releasing a Trio boxset. You can celebrate her birthday by listening to her beautiful duet of “The Maker” with Willie Nelson.
Merle Haggard – April 6, 1937 – April 6, 2016 (79)
Merle Haggard has sadly passed away on his 79th birthday. Fellow artists have been shocked and saddened at the news of his passing, tweeting messages of love and support for the music icon. There will never be another country musician like Haggard.
Jessie James Decker – April 12 (27)
The stunning Italian-born singer-songwriter has been singing since she was two-years-old. She has also branched out of music to design a line of clothes called Kittenish.
Easton Corbin – April 12 (33)
Easton Corbin is well known for songs like “A Little More Country Than That” and “Roll With It,” but he’s gaining even more recognition this year as an opening act on Carrie Underwood’s Storyteller Tour.
Vince Gill – April 12 (58)
If you know country music, you know Vince Gill. With a solo career that started in the 80’s, he’s recorded over 20 albums. If you haven’t yet seen him perform that hilarious song he made up on America’s Morning Show last month, then do yourself a favor and watch it now.
Loretta Lynn – April 14 (83)
Loretta is a classic country legend and she’s still making headlines today. Most recently, she’s played SXSW, had a PBS special air about her life, and released her first studio album, Full Circle, in a decade.
Chris Stapleton – April 15 (37)
There isn’t a bigger name in country music right now than Chris Stapleton, and rightfully so. Stapleton was a successful songwriter before breaking into his solo career. At this year’s CMA’s, he won big with his album Traveller. To celebrate his birthday, listen to him covering “Amanda” with his wife, Morgane Stapleton.
Willie Nelson – April 29 (82)
A living legend and the definition of classic country, Willie Nelson is still touring around the country at the young age of 82. He even just landed a No. 1 spot on the jazz charts with his latest album, Summertime: Willie Nelson Sings Gershwin.
