Cody Wickline impressed coaches on The Voice with a cover of an iconic George Jones song and landed a spot on Team Blake.
Country music singer Cody Wickline played such a great rendition of George Jones’ iconic song, “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” it caused four coaches to turn their chairs during the blind auditions of The Voice. Adam Levine said his performance is the “best country performance” he’s ever heard on the show, and Blake Shelton called the song “the most important song in country music in 60 years.”
After hearing only a few seconds of the song, Levine smiled and hit his button. Shelton waited a little longer before he turned his chair, then Pharrell and Christina Aguilera quickly followed. When the song was over, the coaches gave Wickline a standing ovation.
Levine, Shelton and Aguilera made their cases why Wickline should join their teams. Pharrell, however, said he should go with his gut and pick the coach that felt like the best fit.
Wickline paused for a minute, but he knew who would be the best coach to help him throughout the season. He went with his instincts and picked Team Blake.
