13 Killed in Tragic Church Bus Crash in Texas Hill Country

13 seniors who were returning from returning from a church retreat in the Texas Hill Country were killed in a vehicle collision on Wednesday.

A white pickup truck collided head on with the mini-bus carrying congregants of the First Baptist Church in New Braunfels. The group was returning from a choir trip to Leakey Texas, near Garner State Park.

According to police, 11 passengers and the bus driver died at the scene of the collision. The thirteenth passenger died later at a hospital in San Antonio. A fourteenth passenger remains in serious but stable condition. The driver of the pickup truck was injured and is currently in stable condition.

Officials say the collision occurred on a curve in the road where the speed limit is 65 mph. The truck veered into the lane of the bus and collided with it head on.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the accident.

On Thursday, the Texas Department of Public Safety released the names of the victims in the accident.

New Braunfels resident Rose Mary Harris, 64,  is the lone survivor of the bus accident.

The pickup truck driver has been identified as Jack Dillon Young, 20, of Leaky.

The church is asking for prayers for everyone involved in this tragedy.
