David Letterman will host Chris Stapleton tonight (April 14) in his final days before retirement.
Letterman is passing the torch of The Late Show to comic Stephen Colbert this year, but first he’ll host a bevy of Hollywood stars and amazing musical guests. This week kicked off the final 28 shows with Letterman as host, and there are some amazing country acts in the lineup of musical guests.
Last night’s guests included actress Sarah Jessica Parker, 2015 Masters champion Jordan Spieth, and musical guest Asleep at the Wheel. Tonight will feature country star Chris Stapleton along with actor/comedian Billy Crystal and The Talk co-host Julie Chen.
Singer-songwriter Stapleton has penned hits for the likes of George Strait, Darius Rucker and Kenny Chesney released his solo album, Traveler, in 2015 and his talent has earned the Kentucky native a nomination for an Academy of Country Music award for his work on the Luke Bryan hit “Drink a Beer”.
The ACM awards will be held this coming Sunday, April 19, so Stapleton’s appearance on The Late Show is timely. Joining the Nashville star for the final Letterman shows are several other big names, both in Hollywood and Nashville, including Emmylou Harris, Steve Martin, Ralph Stanley, Tina Fey, Brandi Carlile and many more.
