Chris Stapleton stopped by Good Morning America this week to chat about his sudden rise to stardom.
Since his sweep at this year’s CMA Awards, Stapleton has quickly become the most talked-about artist in country music. As more and more listeners are listening to his breakthrough solo album Traveller, Stapleton has become more open about the effect the album’s success has had on him as an artist and individual.
Since the CMA Awards, Stapleton says he’s still learning to deal with his new sense of fame. “(It’s) a little different, but we’re doing good,” he told GMA’s Robin Roberts. “Holding up so far.”
Chris revealed that he actually missed the life-changing moment when it was announced that he had earned three 2016 Grammy Awards nominations, including Album of the Year.
“My sister-in-law walked in and she’s like ‘Congratulations!’ And we were like, ‘For what?’ They had announced them online, I guess, before they actually aired them on TV. We figured it out eventually.”
Stapleton’s wife and constant musical collaborator Morgane also appeared on the segment. Chris told Roberts that he always appreciates having her by his side through all the ups and downs of his career.
“It’s always a comfort, and a lot of fun to have her out here doing this,” he explained. “We have a good time singing together.”
