Rock legends Guns N’ Roses have enlisted country music’s baddest mama jamma, Chris Stapleton, for their upcoming reunion tour stop in Nashville.
The concert is set for July 9 at Nissan Stadium, the site of CMA Fest 2016. Stapleton was one of, if not the best, stadium performance at that festival, so his opening slot for Guns N’ Roses show should be one to remember. Stadium shows are notoriously difficult gigs, but Stapleton has proven that he and his band can command a massive audience, even if it’s mixed with country, pop and rock fans.
Guns N’ Roses’ highly-anticipated Not in This Lifetime Tour kicks off June 23 in Detriot, Michigan. The tour features some notable opening acts, including Lenny Kravitz, The Cult, Billy Talent, Alice and Chains and Skrillex (WTF, Guns N’ Roses?)
This won’t be the first time a major country act has opened for legacy rock act in Nashville. Last year, Brad Paisley opened for the Rolling Stones in the same arena. Jagger even brought Paisley onstage to sing “Dead Flowers” during the Stones’ set. You can watch that performance here.
