Cattle Farmer Does Something Remarkable to Save Life of Newborn Calf [VIDEO]

An Indiana cattle farmer used clever thinking to save a frozen newborn calf.

Cattle farmer Dean Gangwer keeps track of over a hundred cattle but says one of his heifers went missing while she gave birth recently. “She decided to go off by herself, which most cows do, the want to be alone,” said Gangwer. He found the newborn calf frozen and barely clinging to life in the middle of snow-covered pasture. Without wasting a second, he loaded the frozen calf onto his ATV and charged back to his house.

Back at home, Gangwer opened up his outdoor hot tub and jumped in fully clothed with the newborn calf. The two hung out in the tub for about an hour while the calf regained life. When the calf perked up, he took him inside and covered him with electric blankets until he record. The calf, affectionately named Leroy, has fully recovered and will rejoin his herd soon.

“Some sunbathing is definitely in his future this summer out in the grass,” said Gangwer. “But definitely hot tub days are done.
