While most 11-year-olds are training their hands to master video game controllers, Carson Peters is training his to master the fiddle.
The child prodigy began playing the fiddle when he was just 3 1/2 years old. Yeah, I know, just give up learning how to play the fiddle now.
Peters is a monster talent who has caught the attention of the bluegrass world and beyond. Last September the youngster took the stage at the Grand Ole Opry to perform one of his original compositions, “Oak Creek.” Yeah, he writes music too. I know, time to whip your kids into shape.
Aside from his technical skill, Peters also has a charismatic stage presence that’s impressive for his age. Watch the young whippersnapper charm the audience at the Opry.
This wasn’t Peters’ first Opry appearance. In 2014, he stepped into the legendary circle to perform “Blue Moon of Kentucky.” In that clip, Peters shows off his vocal chops, which are already on par with professional country singers twice his age. He has also appeared on NBC’s Little Big Shots, a talent show hosted by Steve Harvey.
Peters’ band includes his father Jamie Peters on rhythm guitar, Tom Pier on bass and Bobbie Dier on mandolin and banjo.
