Country newcomer Cam got the surprise of a lifetime during her recent visit to the Today show.
The 31-year-old thought she was just having a quick chat with co-hosts Willie Geist and Natalie Morale ahead of her performance during her Dec. 15 appearance on the morning show. Instead, she was surprised with a commemorative plaque to celebrate her first platinum-certified single.
“Burning House” has now sold over 1 million copies since its release earlier this year. The unexpected presentation shocked the California native, who couldn’t hide her excitement over this big achievement.
“This means I don’t have to explain myself at Christmas anymore, everyone’s gonna be like, ‘We know what you do,’” she joked as she was presented with a stunning bouquet of yellow roses. “This is hard work from so many people, this makes me so happy and so proud.”
This incredible career milestone comes just a few days after the news that “Burning House” earned Cam her first ever nomination for Best Country Solo Performance at the 58th annual Grammy Awards. Her single was also named as one of our 10 Best Country Songs of 2015.
