UPDATE: On Saturday, Bullet the bison was transported to her new home in Flower Mound. She sold for $5,960 on Craigslist.
People have had miniature horses, pot-bellied pigs and giant dogs as family pets. But one household in Argyle, Texas boasts a 1,000-pound bison as their furry friend.
Karen Shoeve raised the eight-year-old female bison named Bullet. All that time around humans has made her a domesticated, housebroken, super-friendly buffalo, reports WFAA.
Bullet’s routine sounds almost identical to a family dog’s. Shoeve tells reporters that when Bullet gets hot she walks into the house to cool down.
In her own words, “She followed me down the hallway and hung out in my bedroom too. She is perfectly gentle and content to hang out as long as I’d let her. She does not potty in the house. My plan was to build an outside patio porch room that she could come in and hang out while we watched the sun set and BBQ’d.”
She also likes to chase the lawnmower, escape onto the neighboring golf course and follow Shoeve around while she does work on her property.
However, Bullet’s owner wants to find a better retirement for the aging bison. She put up a Craigslist ad hoping to attract a buyer that can give Bullet plenty of grassland space and a solid dose of human contact.
While one camp for autistic children was considering the purchase, it looks like Bullet is still on the market. If you have some extra acreage and an extra-large couch maybe she’s the right bison for you. This video from USA Today will make your heart swell:
