Country fans were left in shock when Britney Spears made a surprise appearance at the Grand Ole Opry on March 15.
Spears hit the stage at the Ryman Auditorium for a Tuesday night Opry session this week, but the popstar wasn’t looking to make the move to country music.
Rather than channeling her inner Dolly Parton when she hit Music City, Britney was actually appearing at the Opry to introduce rising country star and her little sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, who was scheduled to perform on the iconic Tennessee stage.

In a sweet 30-second video of the moment posted to Jamie Lynn Spears official Twitter page on March 16, Spears can be seen describing her younger sister, who made her debut in the country music world back in 2013 with the single “How Could I Want More,” as her “heart and soul.”
“Not only is she beautiful and extremely talented, she’s my little sister,” Britney told the lucky crowd at the Grand Ole Opry this week, before Jamie Lynn shared a big hug with her older sister and brother Bryan, who also joined the Spears sisters on stage.
“Best surprise ever at the most special place ever,” Jamie Lynn wrote alongside the video on social media earlier today, “So blessed. Thanks to my family, @britneyspears & thanks @opry.”
