Are you ready to get rowdy this weekend? Brantley Gilbert sure is.
The country star’s latest single, “The Weekend,” is the star’s ode to having a good time. In true Gilbert style, his new cut is filled with electric guitar and a rocking, head-bang worthy beat.
Sure, the sound and style might seem familiar, but that’s intentional. Gilbert realized that his fans were looking for a Friday night anthem while traveling through middle-class America during his recent Blackout Tour.
“We were rolling through the Midwest, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Minnesota, and you see how hard people work – and how much they need to let it go when they get to Friday,” Gilbert said in a press release. “All those people coming out to the shows and rocking hard; they meant business. I wanted to write a song that matched that intensity to kick back even harder than you work. That’s where ‘The Weekend’ comes from: all those people who came out and threw it down with us.”
While “The Weekend” may not push any boundaries musically, it’s an anthemic track that will connect with anyone longing to get away from the workday grind. The track, which will featured on Gilbert’s upcoming fourth studio album, will hit country radio on Aug. 8.
