Blake Shelton is opening up about his upcoming new album and revealing that his impending release will feature songs about his break-up with Miranda Lambert and his new relationship with Gwen Stefani.
“I can put my life experience, whether it’s a divorce or my new girlfriend, whatever those experiences are, whatever things that are happening in my life, I have an outlet for them,” Shelton recently told Entertainment Tonight. “I have music. I can write songs, I can sing about it.”
“If you have followed my career even a little bit in my life, you know what has happened with me in the last, gosh, eight or nine months,” the “Honey Bee” singer continued.
Shelton also revealed in the new interview that he’s enlisted the help of The Oak Ridge boys on his new album, which he teased is coming “soon,” but wasn’t too excited when the band let the cat out of the bag regarding their upcoming collaboration.
“I’m thinking, ‘Man, this is going to be a perfect secret! Nobody is ever going to know until this album comes out,'” Shelton recalled to Entertainment Tonight, adding that he’s “honored and happy” to be teaming up with the group.
“And they came and sang and five minutes later…” Shelton continued, “I looked on Twitter like, ‘Oh, they are telling everybody on Twitter right now!’”
But it turns out Shelton couldn’t stay too mad at the country legends about the slip up for long. “What are you going to say, man? It’s the Oak Ridge Boys!” Shelton joked. “If they were that excited to be on my record, then I am glad they are out there talking about it. It’s their world, let them do what they’re doing.”
