On last night’s episode of The Voice, Blake Shelton had to choose between two of his star students.
We’ve reached the point in The Voice where teams have been set, and the coaches are forced to pit their proteges against each other. Blake Shelton had to make a pretty tough choice last night when Cody Wickline and Matt Snook battled on Randy Houser‘s “How Country Feels”.
West Virginia native Snook had a successful but untelevised blind audition with Brooks & Dunn‘s “Red Dirt Road”, whereas Wickline started a four-chair bidding war with his rendition of George Jones’ “He Stopped Loving Her Today”.
Both Snook and Wickline impressed Shelton and garnered praise from the other three coaches who could hear the heart beyond each singers’ words. “Ohhh God… I don’t like this!” sighed Shelton, who said that despite loving both performances he had to go with his gut. Team Blake ended up choosing Cody Wickline, and though the other coaches are allowed to steal a contestant who doesn’t advance, none did and Snook was knocked out of the round.
