Popular Texas restaurant chain Bill Miller BBQ is giving free meals to all law enforcement officers on Friday (July 8) as a thank-you following the deadly July 7 shootings in Dallas.
Any law enforcement officials who visit the restaurant in uniform or with a proper ID can receive one free dine-in meal.
This act of kindness is a direct response to the shooting that occurred during a protest in downtown Dallas yesterday. The protest honored two African-American men who were filmed being shot and killed by police in Louisiana and Minnesota earlier this week. Shortly before 9 P.M., two suspects began shooting at police in the area of the gathering.
Eight Dallas police, four DART officers and two civilians were shot during the attack. CNN reports that three suspects are currently in custody. One suspect was killed after police detonated a bomb near the suspect after negotiations became strained.
The shooting in Dallas has become the deadliest incident for law enforcement in the U.S. since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
