Gospel stars Bill and Gloria Gaither will host a public memorial service for the late Joey Martin Feek in her hometown of Alexandria, Ind. on March 13.
The Gaithers are longtime family friends and supporters of Joey + Rory‘s career. The Feek’s final album, Hymns That Are Important to Us, was released through the Gaither’s record label. During Joey’s battle with terminal cancer, they regularly visited her bedside to show their support and love up until her death on March 4.
Now, the Gaithers are once again showing their love for Joey by arranging a public memorial service to be held in the Alexandria-Monroe High School gymnasium at 2:30 PM this Sunday (March 13). Rory Feek, his daughters and other members of the Martin and Feek families will be in attendance.
Earlier this week, Joey Feek was laid to rest in the backyard of her family’s Columbia, Tenn. farmhouse during a private ceremony. This special event will give friends, family and fans the opportunity to say goodbye to the country singer who was taken far too soon.
“Joey was one of a kind,” Bill Gather says of Feek in a press release. “We all will miss that sweet, transparent spirit.”
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Joey and Indy at PO Box 5471 Vancouver, WA 98668.
