Country Stars React to the Death of Barbara Bush

Former first lady Barbara Bush passed away today, April 17, at the age of 92.

Bush served as first lady from 1989 to 1993 alongside her husband and 41st President George H.W. Bush. Barbara was mother to George W. Bush, the 43rd President, and Jeb Bush, the 43rd Governor of Florida.

"Barbara Bush was a fabulous First Lady and a woman unlike any other who brought levity, love, and literacy to millions," George W. Bush said in a statement. "To us, she was so much more. Mom kept us on our toes and kept us laughing until the end. I'm a lucky man that Barbara Bush was my mother. Our family will miss her dearly, and we thank you all for your prayers and good wishes."

The news of her passing has made its way to those in the country music community, many of which had close relationships with the Bush family. Barbara's son, George H.W. Bush, is known as a lover of traditional country music, while George H. Bush is still the first and only president to appear at the CMA Awards.
