Want to Visit West Texas' Best Natural Spring? Get There Early

Planning a fun summertime trip to Balmorhea State Park this year? You'll definitely want to get there early.

Starting Memorial Day weekend, the park and Balmorhea Pool will cap the amount of daily visitors at 1,300. According to a news release, the decision was made to help preserve resources and guarantee a pleasant and comfortable experience for all visitors.

The first 1,000 daily passes will be distributed at the park gates beginning at 8 a.m. The next 300 visitors will be granted tickets to enter the park at 3 p.m. So if you want to enjoy a whole day at the park, you'll definitely need to get there before the gates open.

Tourists and locals have flocked to the park and it's natural springs for decades. In recent years, concerns have been raised over nearby oil drilling that could put the area at risk by damaging the water table. With more local drilling looming, you may want to enjoy the refreshing scenery of Balmorhea Pool sooner rather than later.
