The members of Backroad Anthem will continue to perform together following the tragic death of lead vocalist Craig Strickland.
In a message shared through their official Facebook page, the band announced a new tour date “in honor of Craig Strickland.” Along with a sold-out show scheduled for Jan. 16 at George’s Majestic Lounge in their hometown of Fayetteville, Ark., the band will perform a second concert at the same venue on Jan. 17. The band also has seven additional tour dates scheduled for the first half of 2016, which were booked before Strickland’s death.
In response to a fan’s comment asking about a possible replacement for Strickland, the band posted the following comment. “Most of the news articles list Craig as the lead singer, but the band was fronted by two people,” the message stated. “We could never replace Craig, but we know he would want us to continue. Thank you for all your support and prayers.”
Strickland and his friend Chase Morland died after encountering severe weather while on a duck hunt in Oklahoma’s Kaw Lake on Dec. 26. Strickland’s friends and family have asked supporters to donate to a GoFundMe account, which was created to help cover funeral costs and expenses relating to search efforts.
