It’s time to say “happy birthday, y’all” to these iconic and beloved country singers with March birthdays! Let’s celebrate by taking a look at their careers, current projects and a few fun facts.
Bob Wills – March 6 (1905 – 1975)
Known as the King of Western Swing, Bob Wills is a true country legend. Waylon Jennings even wrote a song about him titled, “Bob Wills is Still the King.” Wills passed in 1975 after a fulfilling career (both solo and with The Texas Playboys), but his memory still lives on through his music.
Carrie Underwood – March 10 (32-years-old)
Carrie Underwood may be the most talented and well-known woman in country music today. Her steadily booming career is well deserved. She’ll be hitting a ton of cities this summer on her Storyteller Tour and is set to perform at the 2016 CMA Awards.
Charley Pride – March 18 (77)
Another country legend, Charley Pride charted a whopping 39 No. 1 hits on the Country Billboard charts. A fan of baseball and a Mississippi native, Pride has multiple notable singles, including Grammy-nominated, “Just Between You and Me.”
Brett Eldredge – March 23 (29)
Brett Eldredge has been in the industry since 2011, but his star is still on the rise. You can catch a live performance at one of his many tour stops this summer. And if you haven’t seen it yet, this video of Eldredge “flower bombing” people on the street will melt your heart.
Kenny Chesney – March 26 (47)
Happy birthday to our favorite country beach bum! There aren’t many singers in their 40’s who’ve had the career that Kenny has. Kenny’s 2016 Spread the Love Tour is going to be huge — Miranda Lambert, Sam Hunt and Old Dominion will be joining. Chesney is also set to perform at the 2016 ACM Awards.
Reba McEntire – March 28 (60)
Reba McEntire is pretty much a household name. Not only has she had an iconic music career, but she’s acted as well (who could forget her hilarious and long-running show aptly titled, Reba?) If you’re in the mood for a good cry, watch her recently released music video and tribute to her late father, “Just Like Them Horses.”
Rodney Atkins – March 28 (46)
Atkin’s has been churning out hits since the 90’s but didn’t officially release an album until 2003. You may remember that he won Top New Male Vocalist at the 2006 ACM Awards. He only has a few tour dates set for 2016, so get tickets while you still can!
Thomas Rhett – March 30 (25)
Thomas Rhett (born Thomas Rhett Akins, Jr.) is a hot name in country music right now. Fun fact: He’s known his wife, Lauren Gregory, since the first grade. Aw! Go ahead and check out Rhett’s amazing stripped-down cover of Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” to celebrate his birthday!
Justin Moore – Mar. 30th (31)
Justin Moore is another country artist whose career has really surged in the past few years. In 2014, he won New Artist of the Year at the ACM Awards. Moore is also a family man, as this adorable video of his daughters giving him a makeover proves.
