Let’s give a warm “Happy Birthday” y’all, as we celebrate some of our favorite country music singers with February birthdays. Maybe it’s not every day that you think of these guys and gals, so why not celebrate them on their special day here in February with some fun facts.
Clint Black – Feb. 4th (53)
Born in Long Branch, New Jersey, Black has been around for a while on the country music scene. In fact, he released his ninth album, On Purpose, this past fall. Before that, he hadn’t put out a studio album since 2005’s Drinkin’ Songs and Other Logic.
Sara Evans – Feb. 5th (44)
Evans was born in Boonville, Missouri and has won several awards over the last 20 years, including a CMA Video of the Year award for perhaps her most iconic song, “Born To Fly”, in 2000. You can celebrate her birthday by giving her stellar duet of “Jolene” with Martina McBride a listen.
Garth Brooks – Feb. 7th (53)
One of country music’s most respected artists, Brooks was born Troyal Garth Brooks in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Brooks and his wife, Trisha Yearwood, are currently wrapping up a collaborative album of duets.
Travis Tritt – Feb. 9th (52)
Born James Travis Tritt in Marietta, Georgia, he released his first album (Country Club) in 1990. Recently, Tritt shared some fond memories of his dear friend, Glenn Frey, who sadly passed away on Jan. 18.
Tennessee Ernie Ford – Feb. 13th (1919-1991)
Ford was born Ernest Jennings Ford in Bristol, Tennessee. A legend, he’s most known for his songs “The Shotgun Boogie” and “Sixteen Tons”. Remember Ford with this comical black and white video of Ford and his son, Brion.
Johnny Cash – Feb. 26th (1932-2003)
The late, great music icon celebrated his birthday in February. Cash was recently honored with the a posthumous special lifetime achievement award from the Country Music Association. You can celebrate his birthday this year by enjoying this rare video of him performing at San Quentin prison in 1969.
Jason Aldean – Feb. 28th (38)
Born in Macon, Georgia, Aldean has certainly been one of the most talked about country musicians of the last decade. Currently on Aldean’s schedule — he’ll be headlining the 2016 Farnborough Festival in NYC.
